Zaporozhie. Jewish agency has constructed a new building for its programs. A huge and bright building, combining office, ulpan and youth club in one, does not remain indifferent to anybody. The whole range of programs and projects existing under Sokhnut in Zaporozhie is so wide that a new house was badly needed. Chief Rabbi of Zaporozhie Nokhum Erentroy nailed a mezuzah at the door of new Jewish house.

Kiev. On the request of ADL of Ukraine concerning the article by Kiev Germans' national group president G.Adler-Garms and N.Zavadovsky-Gedler in "Personnel" magazine Germans' Association of Ukraine has informed: "An article in the "Personnel" magazine #8, 2002 is a pure provocation on the part of Adler-Garms and Zavadovsky-Gedler, which in no way reflects the position of Germans' Association of Ukraine. Adler-Garms and Zavadovsky-Gedler are not members of Germans' Association of Ukraine. We would like to mention we have earlier had such provocations on the part of these gentlemen. This, regretfully, is not included in the future".

In response to the letter from ADL of Ukraine regarding the anti-Semitic activity of chairman of the Ternopol Committee for Greek-Catholic Church's Protection (CGCCP) Demidas Ternopolsko-Zborovsky, Eparch of UGKC Kir Mikhail Sabriga informed he had no relations with CGCCP for more than 3 years and "accordingly accepts and supports no positions of the committee".

Kiev. Rector of Kiev National University (KNU) named after Taras Shevchenko, academician V.V.Skopenko in response to the letter of ADL of Ukraine regarding anti-Semitic publications by V.Yaremenko, represented there as a KNU professor, informed, V.Yaremenko no longer works in KNU since 01.02.2001. Thus, "KNU cannot be responsible for Prof. Yaremenko statements made in publications of 2002".

Ivano-Frankovsk. A plaque in memory of dozens of Ukrainian nationalists shot dead by fascists in November 1943 was attached to the synagogue building located in the Strachenykh ('Executed') street in Ivano-Frankovsk. The city Jewish community, in particular Prikarpatye Rabbi Moshe-Leib Kolesnik supported the plaque establishment.

Kiev. ADL of Ukraine has passed the materials on anti-Semitism in Ukraine to the participants of a round table "Monitoring of observing national minorities' rights in Ukraine". It was held by OSCE together with the Verkhovna Rada ombudsman.

Kiev. "Bney Brit" Kiev organization has held a reception with regard to the European "Bney Brit" delegation's visit to Ukraine. The delegation members have highly assessed charitable programs and activity of Jewish People's University named after Maimonid carried out by Kiev "Bney Brit".
