LOOK FROM ASIDE
In Brief ...
An aluminium king, banker of Kazakhstan's President Nazarbayev, one of the first Kazakhstan oligarchs-billionaires, chairman of the Board of Directors of Eurasian bank, president of Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Alexander Mashkevich has visited Israel as part of the international conference on inter-confessional dialogue. The conference to have smoothly become a banquet was held in one of the most fashionable capital hotels "Ramada Renaissance". A number of Knesset deputies and influential rabbis from many Eurasian countries attended the conference. Mister Mashkevich, one of the most significant Jewish leaders on the territory of former USSR, gave an exclusive interview.
There was an official visit of President of Iran Hattami to Kiev on October 15-16, 2002. Frankly speaking, I didn't believe from the very beginning that I would be accredited as an Israeli reporter to cover the visit of such an unfriendly to Israel political leader.
When I asked my student, Armi Abu, who is in our chair, and by the way, a nephew of Arafat: "What kind of peace do you want?", he promptly answered: "What kind of peace do you mean? What we mean is a temporary cease-fire". This is the logical misunderstanding of the Oslo agreements and what these agreements mean at all. The Arab terminology differs greatly from what Europeans mean, - the professor goes on.
