A charitable evening-concert under a symbolic name "Day of creator" was held in the building of Mayakovsky theatre September 17, the next day after Yom-Kipur. The concert presented Mark Rozovsky, Roman Kartsev, Alexander Zhubin, Victor Shenderovich, "Vivaldi-orchestra", "Quartet named after Shostakovich" and others. The concert also included an auction at which a roll "Megilat Ester", submitted by the synagogue in Bolshaya Bronnaya, was sold for 2500 dollars. The initial price was 1800 dollars.
The stage housed a peculiar "Jacob's ladder". Before each appearance a boy Mendele put on it another candle saying "In the name of creator". The organizers succeeded in combining the music of all genres and trends. Daniil Kramer demonstrated his brilliant jazz playing. Mark Rozovsky unexpectedly performed two songs, one of which being his own musical arrangement of a famous verse by Mandelshtam "There once was Alexander Gertsevich". The classical trend was represented by "Vivaldi-orchestra" and Svetlana Bezrodnaya, and "Quartet named after Shostakovich". A famous men's choir "Khasidskaya kapella" performed traditional Jewish music. Tsarovtsev presented an interesting, particular trend - "Hasidic rock" - combination of kleizmer tradition with new forms. The ensemble "Guslyary" produced an absolutely indelible impression on the audience - girls-gusli players in Russian national dresses performed variations of famous Jewish melodies.
We tend to believe an event the evening was dedicated to shall become no less bright, and a would-be center in Bolshaya Bronnaya shall become home to a huge number of Moscow Jews.
