Brazil. The first synagogue on the American continent has been recently opened again in Brazil after it was closed 350 years ago by Portuguese colonizers. Jews that escaped from religious persecutions built this synagogue in 1637 in Resifi harbor, then belonging to the Netherlands. In 17 years the Portuguese drove away the Dutch and Jews and closed the synagogue. Jews, which escaped 350 years ago from Resifi to New Amsterdam that later became New York, founded the USA Jewish community.

USA. 56-year old Irving David, Head of the National Organization of Jews Protection League, and his companion 59-year old Erl Lesl Krugel were accused of criminal conspiracy. Their goal was to blow up the king Fahd's mosque in the Los Angeles suburb Calver-City and the office of a California congressman-republican Darrel Issa, grandson of Lebanese emigrants. The extremists planned to explode the buildings when there would be no people inside, therefore they were not charged with murderous assault. FBI investigator Mary Hogen was informed about the prepared operation by an anonymous person.

USA. A festival of kosher food industry took place in New Jersey. Menakhem Lubinsky, one of the festival's organizers, said that today kashrut is a special sphere of market economy: "Kashrut is not just an ideology. Previously kosher goods were purchased only by Jews. However, now many non-Jews also prefer buying kosher goods because this guarantees quality".

Everyone interested could buy kosher foodstuffs: the festival presented more than 5000 kosher stuffs. Many products were for the first time in the "kosher market".

France. "The religious war concept is the fundamental of Muslim religion, - said writer Vidyadkhar Suradzhprasad Naypaul, a Nobel prizewinner in literature of 2001, in his interview to the "Liberation" newspaper. - The leftists give lots of explanations of why twenty people voluntarily died to get to the paradise: the Israeli and Palestinian crisis, American imperialism, and so on. But I understand these incidents as acts of pure religious hatred".

Switzerland. Nazism victims will be paid about $76 thousand as part of a new compensation campaign. It provides reparation of damages caused by Switzerland during World War II. The compensation will be paid to 95 people of Jewish origin - citizens of 14 countries, who escaped from Nazi persecutions and tried to take refuge in Switzerland.

All of them were either forcedly returned to Germany, or expelled from Switzerland, or allowed to enter the country but were treated in an inhumane manner.
