Jerusalem. A memorial evening of Crimean Jews perished during the Catastrophe was held in the Community Club. The tragedy happened on December 11-14 in Simferopol at the 11th km of the Feodosian highway. 14 thousand Crimean Jews were shot there. The memorial evening dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the tragic events was attended by former Crimean inhabitants. They shared their memories about the victims and heroes of the years of Nazi occupation.
Jerusalem. As the "Vesti" newspaper informs, a representative office of the Ukrainian cultural mission opens in Jerusalem. The mission is situated in the center of the city, near the Russian yards - a historical place, well known to Christian pilgrims of the world. The representative office of the Ukrainian mission in the Israeli capital will provide a possibility to strengthen the countries' cultural relations and familiarize the Israelis with the best Ukrainian creative groups and performers.
Rekhovot. The final concert of the 4th festival of folk art of the Ukrainian Natives Association took place in the city. 400 participants of all ages - choral, musical, dance groups, performers of all genres, including circus and sports, - showed the audience the pleasure of genuine art.
Uliy Edelstein, Deputy Absorption Minister, greeted the artists and wished all concert participants and guests further success in development of folk art.

Jerusalem. The presentation of the 10th volume of the Concise Jewish Encyclopedia was held in the Russian library. The volume was presented by the encyclopedia's editors that did a great amount of work on compiling entries - from letter "Ш" to letter "Я". The entries include descriptions of Jewish towns, biographies of famous public leaders, politicians, scientists, writers, artists. The editors are planning to publish a separate volume with articles, not included into the previous volumes, additions and corrections.
The final of the third chess tournament is being held in Israel now. It was organized by the Ukrainian Natives Association. About 700 chess players participated in the selection games, which were held in 30 Association's sections. The winner of the final game, in which 100 players of this ancient game participate, will get a prize - a free airplane ticket to Ukraine.
A reunion meeting of the Lvov Physical Training Institute graduates took place in Israel. It was initiated by Yosif Roitman, known for his support of new repatriates-sportsmen. The attendees discussed problems of sports development in Israel, upbringing of new sport generations, membership in government structures. Graduates of Moscow, Kiev, Kharkov sports colleges and other sports centers were also invited to the meeting.
