In Brief ...
June 2, 2002 the first volume of the "Dead souls" marked its 160th anniversary. That very day the sect "Jews for Christ" stopped its "evangelizing campaign" held in Kiev over a month. What unites these two events?
In early July local inhabitants got alarmed at the news brought by the forester V.Shvorob. He was the first to discover the traces of vandalism. People without honesty (unfortunately, they can be found everywhere) had decided to earn from metallic fence around the communal graves located it the heart of the forest. They broke the peace of the sacred place, dismantled and took away part of the cast iron fence - 30 sections.

A significant event occurred June 17 in the life of the Jewish religious community of an ancient town Glukhov, Sumy region. The city museum of local history passed over a sacred book of the Jewish people - the Torah - to the community: "There has happened what should have happened", - the chairman of the commission on observing religious legislation D.Savitsky said during the ceremony.

Asya managed to survive in one of the farmsteads, but many of her relatives remained forever in the Goshchi forest.
For already several subsequent years the American distribution fund "Joint" organizes camps for children and youth from different regions of Ukraine. This year is not an exception. A camp-seminar "Mishpakha of Donetsk region - 2002" passed on the Azov seacoast June 17 - July 1.
Our great contemporary and artist Amadeo Modiliagni wrote, "Life, like history, predetermines no forms but only brings them to existence". Cultural and historical heritage of the people vanishes before our eyes. What forms will be activated to preserve this heritage? The main this is not to be late...
The Kerch charitable center "Khesed Malka" creates a lapidary (depositary of stone monuments) within a museum program. These are Jewish gravestones - bearers of Jewish cultural and historical traditions - a forgotten and non-revived custom of the Jewish people in diaspora.
