But at present we are to be satisfied with any opportunity to read an interesting and useful edition widening our knowledge in the sphere of the Jewish history, culture, social life. Their role in the development of trade, industry and other spheres of social activity in Bakhmut is vividly reflected in the book by A.G.Kopyl "Bakhmut, capital of "New America". The plants producing brick and tile in Bakhmut belonged to the Jews I.Vengerovsky, I.Lubetsky, G.Sangurskaya, A.Palant, B.Frantsuzov and I.Khenkin. The Jews also owned steam and windmills.
