Co-President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine, President of the All-Ukraine Joint Stock bank «VA-Bank», Sergey Maximov was born in 1960. He graduated from the Moscow Higher Technical College named after Bauman, studied in the German Bonn-Finance Academy and in the Ukrainian International Relations Academy.

In the Soviet times, Maximov was a leading engineer-designer of electronic-optical equipment for special purposes in one of the «mail boxes». During «perestroika» he got involved into the banking activities. He has been heading the «VA-Bank» since 1995.

At the constituent congress of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine in May 1999 he was elected Co-President of the Confederation. He is also a member of its Board of Trustees. Maximov provides financial assistance in construction of the Jewish Home for the Elderly, and is always there to help Jewish schools and gifted children.
